Agree 💯. Sometimes we need to be more realistic about our circumstances in order to grow out of them.
Also another one for me I see ALL of the time is, “A year ago you would be proud of how far you’ve come.” “When you have a bad day remember younger you would be so proud of where you are now.” But what if you’re in a place you don’t want to be, what if everything just fell apart in the last year, and younger you wouldn’t be so proud?😆
Thank you for sharing Krystal! I like to think that when things are falling apart it’s an opportunity for us to put back the pieces in an entirely new way. Death and rebirth cycles have happened a lot in my life where I’ve had to shed old identities and surrender to what is wanting to unfold in front of me. It’s always easier said than done. You may feel like you’re falling behind or moved backwards but you’re steadily moving forward. The image of the Unalome in Buddhism represents this well 🙏🏽
I agree, positive affirmations are not always the answer. They work because what you are telling yourself eventually becomes false if you don't follow through on what you are affirming. However, if you have been alive for 20-45 years and have this horrible, negative self-image and constant poor internal dialogue then repeating positive affirmations is not actually going to change how you view yourself. It's one thing to say affirmations out loud and it's another thing to actually believe in what you are saying to yourself. Self love and liking who you are takes action. You have to take actual steps towards who we want to be. Self love and healing takes consistent action to build self belief and confidence.
Thank you! I do my positive affirmations all the time, but I can’t say they make a huge difference, but makes sense after 32 years of having this image of myself, repeating affirmations isn’t solving things. They definitely help and are a form of self love, but it’s hard to convince yourself when it’s been years of have a poor self image. This concept really stood out to me when I listened to a podcast with Mel Robbins where she talks about it. Here is the link if you would like to check it out. 🤗
Fantastic post. I completely agree with you. A lot of us are where we are because of the choices that we've made, and if we don’t like where we are, we have to find a way through it. Sometimes, it can feel that the odds are against us, but I also believe that we repeat mistakes and cycles because we haven’t learned and grown from the lessons yet.
I have always believed in you are where you are supposed to be. Like you mentioned you have to pay attention to the patterns happening around you.
Within the last year and a half I accepted a new job and was promoted fairly quickly. Just recently after a couple of different incidents and a struggle I came to realize and have a peace that it is time to leave. Unfortunately at the moment I am unable to. I'm in the process of buying a house. So for the moment I will hold tight and start planning my exit.

Really resonated with your comment, “You have to take actual steps towards who we want to be. “ 💝 It’s not magic, it takes work!
