Whatever you’re feeling, it won’t last forever

Sorrow, joy, and everything in between

What are you feeling right now? This a heavy question given the state of our world: wars, brutalities, global warming, recession, pandemics, earthquakes, etc. A lot of feelings are coming up. Even those who–despite their best efforts–ignored or numbed their feelings since 2020 are starting to cave under the reality of our current human condition. 

I am here to remind you that whatever you're experiencing right now–whatever feelings you're trying to embrace or avoid–won't last forever. Regardless of whether you're experiencing a high (because you got engaged, promoted, a clean bill of health, etc.) or a low (because you’re heartbroken, grieving a death, or experiencing financial stress, etc.), the reality is that your feelings are temporary–everything in life is. 

If you’re in an emotionally difficult place right now–don’t give up.

If we can be certain about anything in life, it’s the fact that change is inevitable. Acknowledge (and believe) that one day you won’t be feeling the frustration, sadness, fear, and hopelessness that you’re feeling in this very moment. It’s okay if you’re not in your “healing,” “growing,” or “thriving” era. It’s okay if you’re simply enduring, holding on, and riding the storm––that takes immense strength. Be proud of your Self.

And, remember that:

you will smile again. 

you will love again.

you will laugh again. 

you will feel like your Self again.

you will feel inspired and hopefully again. 

If you’re in an emotionally good place right now–savor it.

Acknowledge that the joy, love, confidence, awe, and whatever else you’re feeling is precious. Understand that this feeling is fleeting, and allow yourself to be more intentional, present, and grateful for the moments that make life worth living. We can recognize that the perfect kiss, tender hug, or sunset is ephemeral, and that’s why it holds so much value. 

The temporary nature of our lives (and emotions) is what makes it possible for us to push on during difficult times and appreciate the sweetness that comes with being alive.
