I used to spend a lot of time worrying. If it were a real job, I’d be hired, promoted, and emotionally burned out within a month. I worried about things I couldn’t change, and about things that hadn’t even happened yet—basically, I was freelancing for both the past and the future.

I mean, aside from the whole existence-threatening global virus thing?
I can barely recall what I wore last week—let alone the specific disagreements, the body-shaming comment from someone irrelevant, or the career fears that felt so urgent.
So much of our energy gets eaten up by worries that turn out to be… non-events. Forgotten blips. Stories that never fully formed.
